Füllkrug responds to Morata: Germany still alive
Spain – Germany 1-1 in the second day of Group E
Obliged to at least get a result after the unexpected and scorching defeat they suffered against Japan, Germany took back the match against Spain by the hair, which had taken the lead with half an hour to go with a great goal by Alvaro Morata.
After suffering the initial start of the Iberians, who hit a crossbar with Dani Olmo in the 7th minute, Flick’s eleven held the field quite well within a balanced and enjoyable first half.
In the second half, however, it was Spain that took the best initiatives: the Red Furies’ proactiveness was rewarded in the 62nd minute, when substitute Morata put into the net an excellent suggestion from Jordi Alba. After a good chance not taken advantage of by Musiala, at the 83rd minute here came Füllkrug’s equalizer, allowing the Germans to hope for an even more difficult qualification. In the last two matches of the group, Spain will face Japan, while Germany will face the rejuvenated Costa Rica.
