Zangrillo’s words

Two days after the defeat against last-place Perugia, Genoa president Alberto Zangrillo used the club’s official social channels to address the Rossoblù supporters and explain both the team’s difficult moment and the decision to confirm confidence in Alexander Blessin on the bench.

“On Sunday, in the curve in Perugia, in the role of a fan, I would have disapproved of the team’s performance,” Zangrillo wrote. “Having said that, as president of a club that wants and must return to Serie A, I must guarantee some fundamental principles, the first of which is Respect for Roles: the strategic decisions of the Sporting Management must be motivated, evaluated, discussed and, when taken, respected and supported in a transparent and convinced way by everyone, me first. Each of us, in his or her role, takes responsibility, we can all make mistakes, and we are all called to always do our best.”

“The secret of success is always ‘being well together’; perhaps, in November, that is what we lacked. In this respect, too, I take responsibility, trying to set an example. I knew that difficult times would come, and now they have manifested themselves. Everyone needs to make a personal effort that is useful in identifying his or her mistakes and developing an effective strategy for immediate revitalization to achieve our goals.”

“On Sunday I will be at my post as always to honor my role and our colors alongside our ‘boys,'” concluded the red-blue president.
