Bezzecchi tells when his first season in MotoGp turned around

Marco Bezzecchi spoke to the official channels of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team about his first season in MotoGp that saw him win the Rookie of the Year title two races early, in Australia.

“The balance of this 2022 is certainly positive: as a team, we have grown and made a big step forward over the course of the season. We finished in the best possible way, we were really competitive in the finale and collected very solid results.”

“When I think about it, what a Rookie season in MotoGP! One podium, one pole, so many times in the Top10. Not bad for a category I dreamed about since I was a kid and used to watch on TV. The Rookie of the Year title was a target from the beginning, but without too much pressure. I cared about it because it was my last chance to hit this accolade after I had missed it in Moto3 and Moto2. It was my last chance!” he said about winning the Rookie of the Year title.

He then revealed the turning point during the season: “At Assen something clicked: from that moment I started to push even harder to be able to experience more days like that together with the whole team.”

“I didn’t expect to win the rookie title with two races to go. The first chance I had was Thailand. It was difficult, but after the pole I believed in it. Unfortunately in the race we picked up much less than we expected, the weather surprised us. Arriving in Australia, however, the atmosphere was much more relaxed. Phillip Island is a track I’ve always liked, I wanted to have a great race, without thinking too much, and on Sunday we hit the target,” Bezzecchi concluded.
