F1, Ferrari: Charles Leclerc focuses on an issue
The Monegasque pilot focuses on an issue
A few weeks after the conclusion of the Formula 1 World Championship, Charles Leclerc, who finished the season in second place in the drivers’ standings, gave an interview to the Germans from ‘Auto Motor und Sport.
The Ferrari driver focused on a particular issue experienced during the season by the Maranello stable: “Red Bull is really strong on the straights. At the beginning of the season we were able to make up the deficit because we were faster in the corners. Then they stepped up and were simply faster than us in general,” explained the 1997 class.
“Tire wear? I don’t think that was the problem the most. We were not good enough to have perfect races on Sunday, for example in terms of strategy. Sometimes we put ourselves in suboptimal situations that forced us to do long stints on one tire. We have to work to improve our performance on race Sundays. If I look at the whole season, I think we had the performance to fight for the title. We didn’t, though,” Leclerc continued.
