Boxing, Tyson Fury remains champion: beaten Chisora under Usyk’s eyes
Tyson Fury beats Chisora by technical knockout in 10th round
As predicted, Tyson Fury retained the WBC belt by beating Zimbabwean boxer with British citizenship Derek Chisora at Tottenham Stadium.
However, it was not a walk in the park for Fury, who among the 60,000 spectators watching him move around the ring could catch a glimpse – even a very close one at the end of the match – of Oleksandr Usyk, the Ukrainian boxer ready to challenge him in one of the next title fights.
The ‘Gypsy King’, against Chisora, appeared to be in control although his opponent was able to hold on stoically until the 10th round, avoiding a knockout in a one-sided eighth round but eventually surrendering to the referee’s decision to award victory to the favorite by technical knockout when there were 11 seconds to go in the 10th round.
Fury thus remains undefeated in his professional career: out of 34 bouts he has fought, he has won 33, finishing in a draw only in his Dec. 1, 2018 bout in Los Angeles against Deontay Wilder.
