F1: Ferrari wins in 2022, Carlos Sainz has two regrets
At the end of the season, the main regrets are two.
Carlos Sainz in Ferrari unlocked himself on both the pole position and victory fronts in 2022, achieving results he had never achieved in Formula 1 before the season just ended. Yet, analyzing it at the microphones of ‘SKY Sports UK,’ he admitted that the satisfactions could have been even more.
If in fact at Silverstone the Spaniard took away the greatest satisfaction of his career so far (although controversy was not lacking), his impression is that at the British Grand Prix he did not even run his best race of the season. “Probably my best weekend this year was at Interlagos,” Sainz said. “There I think I could have started from second position, if I had not been penalized for replacing the Power Unit. And at that point I could have fought for the victory.”
Brazil’s, however, is not his only regret of 2022. “I was in pole position in Austin,” Sainz recalled, “In the race the Ferrari could have been really strong, if only I could have run it. Obviously winning a Grand Prix is a special emotion, but in all honesty I drove better at Interlagos and Austin than I did on Sunday at Silverstone.”
