Filippo Antonelli starts again after farewell to Monza: Venezia’s announcement
Less than a week before finding a new assignment.
Filippo Antonelli is the new sporting director of Venezia. This was announced by the lagoon club itself in a note issued on Sunday. Only last Wednesday the manager and former midfielder (who also played in Serie A with the shirts of Chievo, Messina and Bari) had resigned from Monza, where he held the same position.
“Venezia FC announces the entry into the club of Filippo Antonelli, who will hold the position of Sporting Director,” reads the note from the Venetian club. “The 44-year-old executive, who will also oversee the activities of the business area, has signed a multi-year contract, which will bind him to the club until the end of the 2025/26 football season.
“After concluding a 20-year career as a professional footballer that saw him involved in Serie C, Serie B and Serie A, Antonelli began his career as Sports Director at Aurora Pro Patria. The final consecration as manager came in 2015, with the move to Monza. With the Lombard formation, in fact, Antonelli went from Serie D to Serie A in just seven years. To Antonelli goes the warm welcome of Venezia FC and the best wishes for good work,” the statement added.
