Spain, Luis Enrique outspoken after penalty shootout knockout
Luis Enrique candid about his future
Spain was the exception to the rule that, in the round of 16 at Qatar 2022, saw all the favorites – some with more difficulty, some with ease – make it through the round: the penalty lottery in fact rewarded Morocco, throwing an entire country and the coach of the Red Furies, Luis Enrique, into despair.
The former coach of, among others, Barcelona and Roma, did not hide when asked what decision he will make for his future: “I have to make a decision, there are various factors to take into consideration: on the one hand my contract expires, on the other hand I am very happy in the national team and with the federation, the relationship with Rubiales and the technical director Molina is exceptional. If it were up to me I would stay here all my life.”
“I have to think calmly to do the best thing not only for me but for the Spanish national team,” Luis Enrique added, “It’s clear that today’s result affects. I have to go home and think about it.”
