Merih Demiral, CR7’s former Juve teammate, commented on the Lusitanian team’s bitter World Cup elimination

After the despair of Neymar Jr., who just can’t drag Brazil to the World Cup title, late Saturday afternoon it was Cristiano Ronaldo’s turn to give vent, with tears immortalized by TV, to his sorrow for an elimination from Qatar 2022 that smacks so much of goodbye to the Portuguese Seleçao.

Unlike PSG’s Brazilian star, who should have at least one more chance in four years to fulfill his dream of becoming champion with Brazil, for CR7 it was in all likelihood his last call. Despite the exclusion from the starting eleven suffered against Switzerland and also in the ill-fated match against Morocco, in which he nevertheless played more than 40′, Ronaldo still felt he could be decisive, that he could positively determine the fate of his Portugal. Mission failed, obviously not only due to his own responsibility.

Consoling the former Manchester champion was provided in the aftermath of the match by Merih Demiral, his former teammate at Juve, who on his Twitter profile commented thus on his friend’s elimination from Qatar 2022: “Nothing changes. Cristiano is the GOAT (greatest of all time, ed.) and will be forever. My hero and the hero of many of us,” the Turk sentenced.
