Splendid Saturday for the Azzurre Azzurre in giant slalom (apart from Sofia Goggia), Shiffrin is only sixth

Marta Bassino prophet in her homeland: the Italian skier won the World Cup giant slalom at Sestriere, earning her sixth career rainbow success.

The Piedmontese athlete, thanks to a splendid second run, finished 11 hundredths better than Sweden’s Sara Hector. In third place was Slovakian Petra Vlhova, 40 hundredths behind the skier from Cuneo.

Federica Brignone also did well, finishing fourth thanks to an excellent second half of the race. Sixth was U.S. champion Mikaela Shiffrin, and came close to the top ten with Asja Zenere from Veneto, 11th.

On the other hand, it is very far Sofia Goggia, out of the top 40 and without points: the skier from Bergamo, among the most acclaimed by the public, was not at all satisfied with her race.
