Matteo Berrettini, comes high praise from Andrey Rublev

A first time that brought great satisfaction to both of them.

Matteo Berrettini has experienced a very difficult 2022 professionally, but he is ending it with a smile on his face thanks to his participation in the Diriyah Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia. Here he is playing as a partner with Russia’s Andrey Rublev, and the two told of the chemistry that has developed between them after so many matches played against each other.

“Playing doubles together was terrible,” Berrettini joked in the press conference. Then to state more seriously, “It was actually wonderful. For the first time we played on the same side, and our tennis was really good. We have similar weapons, but we try to integrate and it worked out.”

“When I play with you, I feel comfortable,” Rublev told him, “When you are serving and hitting forehands, I feel comfortable, even if I am at the net. When I heard we were going to play together I felt lucky.”
