The Netherlands striker spoke after the fiery Netherlands-Argentina final
Holland striker Wout Weghorst to his country’s media returned to the fiery post-match of the quarterfinal against Argentina, when he was insulted by Lionel Messi.
“I was just waiting for the end of his interview to shake his hand, that was it. His behavior was not respectful. I’m very disappointed, I don’t understand much Spanish, but I’m sure he said something very unpleasant towards me….”
Messi, who had also had a spat with Van Gaal, had interrupted his interview by addressing Weghorst this way, “What are you looking at, stupid? What are you looking at, stupid? Go, go….”
