Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer write a page of Italian sport: the two athletes in Whistler gave Italy its first-ever success in the women’s World Cup doubles.

On the Canadian gut the two azzurre triumphed with a time of 1’17”912 by staging a great second run, after a first that had seen them finish in provisional fourth place. In the second one, however, they immediately put all their value on the line with the second fastest push time, setting the best intermediate time in every chronometric tally.

Behind them was the Austrian duo of Egle/Kipp at 41 thousandths, followed by the Germans Degenhardt/Rosenthal at 56 thousandths. World Cup standings now see Egle/Kipp in first place with 285 points, followed by Voetter/Oberhofer 255 and Degenhardt/Rosenthal at 195.
