Sinisa Mihajlovic funeral: thousands of fans and many VIPs for final farewell
Applause and emotion at the funeral of the former Bologna coach.
Thousands of fans and many VIPs attended the funeral of Sinisa Mihajlovic, held in Rome at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri at 11:30 a.m.
A banner was displayed outside the basilica, “Ciao Sinisa uno di noi.” As the coffin arrived, a long and emotional applause broke out. Shortly afterwards, Bologna, his last team as coach, also arrived at the basilica, led by new coach Thiago Motta and the entire management.
Lots of VIPs, a delegation from Red Star was also present. Among the many former colleagues and personalities present were Angelo Peruzzi. Francesco Totti, Minister Andrea Abodi, Roberto Mancini, Stefano Fiore, Vincenzo Montella, Massimo Ferrero, Giovanni Malagò, Urbano Cairo, Roberto Gualtieri, Luca Cordeo di Montezemolo, Daniele De Rossi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Vladimir Jugovic, Franco Baresi and many other former colleagues and former teammates and national team members. There was also the Olimpia eagle, the symbol of Lazio.
The funeral was celebrated by Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi archbishop of Bologna.
