David Goffin has no doubt between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic
David Goffin peremptory over Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.
David Goffin, on the sidelines of his participation in the Caen Open, spoke to the microphones of ‘TennisActu’ expressing all his reservations about the ATP world ranking.
“I have no doubts about who is really the world number one,” Goffin said. “Even if the ranking now rewards Carlos Alcaraz, Djokovic remains the best tennis player at the moment. He has been able to play very little in 2022, but in the tournaments he has played, he has always achieved great results and proven time and again that he is the strongest.”
“True, he also suffered surprising defeats,” added the former Top 10 player, “like in Paris-Bercy against Rune, but in the long run Djokovic remains the best.
Novak Djokovic, known to all as Nole is considered one of the best tennis players in history by virtue of records and titles won. In 2021 he came close to achieving a Grand Slam, which only Rod Laver achieved in the Open Era in 1969, but was defeated in three sets by Russian Daniil Medvedev in the Us Open final.
The Serb is, moreover, the tennis player who has finished the season the most times (7) as No. 1 in the ATP ranking, as well as holding the all-time record of having spent a total of 373 weeks at the top of that ranking.
