Nick Kyrgios surprise: retirement from tennis may already be near
A definite goal, at which a farewell to the discipline may come.
Nick Kyrgios has already framed the moment that could determine his retirement from competition. He spoke about it from Dubai, on the sidelines of his victory at the World Tennis League in doubles with Bianca Andreescu. And that moment may be less distant than people think, despite the fact that it concerns an athlete who is only 27 years old.
“I hope I can get to win a Grand Slam. And, at that point, retire,” Kyrgios said between the serious and the facetious. Who then wanted to clarify the fact that this hypothesis is indeed possible.
“This season I have had to deal with a lot of extremely hard work, and deal with a very high level of discipline. However, I have the impression that the more you raise your level, the more people come and ask you to do even better. And that makes it more and more stressful,” Kyrgios indeed admitted. That, in the 2022 Wimbledon final, he could have already achieved his goal: Novak Djokovic, however, defeated him in four sets, with the scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6.
