Remco Evenepoel has decided where he will start his 2023
Evenepoel will make his season debut in Argentina
A neo-professional in 2019, Remco Evenepoel started his first year with the Wolfpacks at the Vuelta a San Juan, where he had a solid start to his career, taking third place in the individual time trial and the jersey of best young rider, as well as helping teammate Julian Alaphilippe get on the race’s podium.
A year later, he returned to the start and, after an impressive showing, was crowned winner of the event, becoming the first Belgian to triumph in 38 editions.
In 2023, Remco will be back in Argentina, this time as world champion, ready to begin his fifth season with Soudal Quick-Step. For Evenepoel – who will celebrate his 23rd birthday during the race – it will be his first stage race since winning the Vuelta a España.
“I am happy to race in San Juan again. It was my first race as a pro in 2019, I have a lot of great memories from my previous outings in Argentina, and I’m happy to start my year in the rainbow jersey there. I hope to see a lot of those fantastic fans on the road and I’m looking forward to debuting my Soudal Quick-Step world champion jersey in a couple of weeks,” Remco said about the race that will take place Jan. 22-29.
