France, 200,000 signatures to replay the final
Petition to repeat match against Argentina is succeeding, targeting referee Marciniak
The petition launched by the MesOpinions website to repeat the World Cup final between France and Argentina, won by the albiceleste on penalty kicks at the end of a thrilling match, is gaining momentum.
The appeal launched by the French site has already collected 200,000 signatures beyond the Alps: in the crosshairs is the performance of Polish referee Marciniak, described as a “sellout.” The whistle is believed to be guilty of awarding the penalty to Di Maria and denying it to Thuram. In addition, Marciniak was also challenged for Messi’s 3-2, which was deemed irregular because players from the Argentine bench had entered the pitch to cheer before the ball entered the goal.
