Arianna MIhajlovic’s words.

Arianna Mihajlovic, Sinisa’s widow, ten days after her husband’s death, wanted to dedicate to him the words of a text by St. Augustine, posted in an Instagram story.

“Death is nothing. I have merely passed to the other side: it is as if I were hiding in the next room. I am still me and you are still you. What we were before for each other we still are. Call me by the name you have always given me, that is familiar to you; speak to me in the same affectionate way you have always used. Don’t change your tone of voice, don’t take on a solemn or sad air. Keep laughing, at those little things we used to enjoy so much when we were together. Pray, smile, think of me! My name will always be the familiar word from before: say it without the slightest trace of shadow or sadness. Our life retains all the meaning it always had: it is the same as before, there is a continuity that will not be broken. Why should I be out of your thoughts and mind, just because I am out of your sight? I am not far away, I am on the other side, just around the corner. Reassure yourself, everything is all right. You will find my heart again, you will find its tenderness purified. Dry your tears and do not weep, if you love me: your smile is my peace.”
