Australian Open, Rafa Nadal no-nonsense about Novak Djokovic
Rafa Nadal doesn’t hide when talking about Novak Djokovic
Rafa Nadal is ready to start a new season and already has a goal: to confirm himself at the Australian Open after his victory in the 2022 edition, which came after a legendary performance in the final (comeback from two sets down) against Daniil Medvedev.
This year the Spaniard will have one more opponent, that Novak Djokovic, who after last year’s controversy can return to try his assault on his tenth title on Melbourne’s concrete: “Djokovic’s presence here in Australia is good for tennis and good for the fans,” Nadal said at a press conference, without mincing words. A Grand Slam tournament is being played, it is right that the best players are always there.”
The Australian Open will be played between Jan. 16 and Jan. 29 (as far as the main draw is concerned). Nadal won the tournament in 2009 and 2022, while Djokovic won the 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021 editions.
