Jannik Sinner responds to criticism, “I’m not afraid.”
The South Tyrolean tennis player ready to take the court in Adelaide: “It will be a beautiful 2023.”
Jannik Sinner spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport before the start of the Adelaide tournament. The Italian tennis player is expecting a “beautiful 2023. I feel a lot of people’s love, it’s important to me and it has been even in the somewhat more difficult moments. It’s great to finally see people at tournaments, children coming to support me. It is very important, also because I hope that seeing me on the court will make them want to choose tennis.”
The Azure has come under the crosshairs of many insiders for his below-expectations 2022: “It’s obvious I would have preferred to be higher in the rankings, but what is ending has been a year with ups and downs, a year of great change. I have suffered some minor injuries during important tournaments, but it would be unfair to dwell only on the negative moments. There is also some good in this somewhat troubled year. It would be wrong not to consider the quarters in Melbourne, Wimbledon and New York as good results.”
The South Tyrolean tennis player points to hard work: “I’ve never been afraid of hard work and work, it’s an attitude I learned from my family. I will do everything to keep it up and achieve all the goals I set together with the team.”
