United Cup, Martina Trevisan wins after a never-ending battle
7-5 3-6 6-4 the score in favor of the Azure tennis player.
In the end she came out on top. Martina Trevisan had to work harder than expected to get the better of Malene Helgo, the No. 321-ranked Norwegian tennis player faced on the Brisbane concrete for the first United Cup match between the Blue and Scandinavian teams.
After more than three hours of play, and no less than 227 points played, the Florentine prevailed in the third set after repeatedly thwarting the comeback attempts of her never tame opponent. After winning the first set and losing the second, Trevisan had in fact gone ahead 4-1 in the third, only to be caught up at 4-4. Decisive, however, was yet another break in favor of the Italian in the ninth game, with the match then closed on her own serve in the tenth game.
