Likely lineups

At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, the challenge between Spezia’s hosts and Atalanta led by Gian Piero Gasperini will be staged at the Stadio Alberto Picco. The Bergamaschi occupy the sixth position in the standings after the difficulties encountered in the last part of the championship before the World Cup. Luca Gotti’s men, on the other hand, are fresh from their victory over Verona on the last day of 2022.

Great novelty among the starting eleven of the La Spezia lineup: in fact, the Ligurian coach will field the newly arrived Joao Moutinho, a 1998 external player arrived from Orlando City and namesake of the Portuguese former Monaco and Porto among others and currently at Wolverhamton. Otherwise, no changes, with the only shift of Ampadu to midfield, as already seen with Wales in the rainbow review.

A few more doubts for the Nerazzurri coach: Gasperini has to decide who to send on the field between Ederson and Pasalic, who recently returned after World Cup exertions, between Soppy and Zappacosta, with the former Udinese man favored given the 1992 class’ return from a long injury, and between Zapata and the very young Hojlund.

Likely lineups.

SPEZIA (3-5-2): Zoet; Caldara, Kiwior, Nikolaou; Holm, Bourabia, Ampadu, Bastoni S., Moutinho; Gyasi, Nzola. All. Luca Gotti.

ATALANTA (3-4-2-1): Sportiello; Toloi, Palomino, Scalvini; Soppy, de Roon, Ederson, Maehle; Koopmeiners; Lookman, Hojlund. All. Gian Piero Gasperini.
