In fact, the Italian Basketball Federation has announced that the Federal Prosecutor’s Office has opened a file to “ascertain the responsibilities regarding the display, during yesterday’s match, January 2, 2023, between Virtus Segafredo Bologna and EA7 Emporio Armani Milano, of a banner bearing the phrase (not quoted in the note, ed.), an explicit reference to the ‘death of Hector’ contained in the twenty-second chapter of the Iliad.”
“A message of unprecedented gravity, a message of violence that cannot and must not find a home in our sports arenas, in our sports movement,” the note ends.
