F1, Sebastian Vettel draws parallels with Charles Leclerc
Vettel was Leclerc’s partner in Ferrari
Four-time F1 world champion with Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel, who retired from competition at the end of the last season, which ended with Max Verstappen winning his second consecutive rainbow laurel, drew an interesting parallel between himself and the Monegasque, with whom he shared the pit box during his time at Ferrari.
“Charles came at a very different time in his career and in his life. It was fun, because I watched him and we got along very well. I really enjoyed the time we spent together, but it was a little bit like watching myself as a young man, and it took me a while to understand that. My goal was not just to win a race, that I did. My goal was to win the championship the way I wanted to do it, which was by winning a lot of races. So maybe I got a little lost in that process,” the now former driver explained to the ‘Beyond the Grid’ podcast.
“I think Charles has something special,” Vettel concluded about Leclerc, who finished the championship in second place behind the Dutchman, winning three Grands Prix.
