F1, Andretti and Cadillac set to join Circus: FIA responds

Andretti Global and Cadillac join forces to enter F1, FIA narrowly responds

In the not-too-distant future, F1 may once again see eleven teams entered in the World Championship, as has not happened since 2018.On Thursday’s day, in fact, Andretti Global and General Motors signaled their willingness to join the Circus with a new U.S.-based team, using one of GM’s most prestigious brands, Cadillac.

“I think we have all the right cards to establish a new Formula 1 team,” said Michael Andretti, president of Andretti Global. We can bring additional value to the championship and our partners, as well as bring excitement to the fans. I am proud to have GM and Cadillac by my side in pursuit of this goal. GM and Andretti have always shared a love of racing, now we have an opportunity to combine our passion for motorsports and innovation and build a true American team.”

The FIA’s response was entrusted to its president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who narrowly reminded, however, how the process of registering a new team takes anything but a short time: “The interest of two iconic brands such as Cadillac, through General Motors, and Andretti Global is particularly welcome,” his words entrusted to an official FIA note. Any process regarding expressions of interest will follow the FIA’s strict protocol and will take several months.”
