Jannik Sinner beats home favorite and advances in Adelaide
Jannik Sinner bent Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis in two sets.
Good win by Jannik Sinner in the Atp 250 in Adelaide. The Italian tennis player qualified for the quarterfinals of the Australian tournament after beating home favorite Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round.
The South Tyrolean showed good solidity against the world number 93, and won in two sets 7-6, 6-4. First set was evenly balanced, ending in a tie break 7-2 after losing a service game in the fifth game. In the second set Sinner hit the break in the third game, closing 6-4.
In the quarterfinals Sinner will face the fearsome Sebastian Korda, world number 33, who is comfortable on Australian cement. The other matches on the scoreboard feature Djokovic against Shapovalov, Medvedev against Khachanov and Nishioka against Popyrin.
