Nerazzurri legend slams Romelu Lukaku: “Embarrassing.”
The black period for the Belgian bomber does not yet seem to be behind him
First, in late August, the thigh injury that kept him off the field for two months. Then the gradual comeback, for two scraps of matches against Viktoria Plzen in Champions and against Samp in the league, before the new stop due to a hamstring inflammation. And so came the World Cup, with the half-hearted striker gobbling up a possible goal-qualification on at least two occasions in the decisive match against Croatia. In short, it is certainly not the most fleeting moment in Romelu Lukaku’s career.
After good signs provided in the friendlies prior to the big-match with Napoli, where Big Rom started from the beginning without disfiguring, came the bench with Monza. The entrance on the field was certainly not among the best, with the player harshly criticized even on social media. Dulcis in fundo, two days after the U-Power Stadium mockery, also came yet another injury: a slight inflammation of the tendons in the goose foot of his left knee, which forces him to miss the Coppa Italia match against Parma and possibly also next Saturday’s San Siro match in the league.
Speaking at the microphones of Radio24 to comment on the Belgian player’s difficult moment, Beppe Bergomi did not mince words: “He had deluded me the first half at Napoli, but when he entered with Monza he was embarrassing. He didn’t keep the ball, he was scared, I don’t know if it’s just physical condition or also mental condition. Even what happened to him at the World Cup I think he’s carrying it in,” the Nerazzurri legend sentenced.
