Virtus melts in the final: Zalgiris privateer in Bologna
Scariolo’s men defeated by Zalgiris Kaunas
Virtus Bologna came out of the Virtus Segafredo Arena challenge against Zalgiris Kaunas, one of the most in-form teams in the Euroleague with four wins in the last five challenges in the continent’s top competition. The Lithuanian team won with a final score of 77-87.
Bad start of the hosts, who at the end of the first quarter were down by eleven points, but in the two middle quarters they managed to turn the inertia of the match upside down, presenting themselves at the beginning of the last fraction of the game on the score of parity.
Despite the nice comeback and the usual convincing game of Sergio Scariolo’s men, Zalgiris came back to what it was in the first quarter, especially thanks to the scoring streak of Mantas Kalnietis and Rolands Smits, both scorers of 17 points, thus managing to close the match with a ten-point lead and gaining its tenth win out of eighteen games. For the Felsinians, the performance of Teodosic and Ojeleye, who combined 32 points in two, should be highlighted.
On the next day the Lithuanians will face the other Italian team in the competition: Olimpia Milano.
