Background on Alcaraz’s injury

World number one Carlos Alcaraz will not participate in the Australian Open due to a problem with the semimembranosus muscle in his right leg, as he announced on his Twitter profile.

However, Revelo revealed a back story about the young Murcian talent’s injury. Apparently, the Iberian tennis player was doing one of his last training sessions before leaving for Melbourne with an American boy named Darwin Blanch at Juan Carlos Ferrero’s academy. Until, in an attempt to recover a bunt from the American, Alcaraz felt his right thigh pull and slumped to the ground. Carlitos still finished the workout but the pain felt continued. So the Us Open winner underwent instrumental examinations that revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh.

Alcaraz, forced to skip the Australian major, also risks losing his first ATP ranking position.
