Davis Cup, everything changes again: goodbye Piqué
Davis Cup, the communiqué
Davis Cup changes master and face again.
In fact, the ITF, the International Tennis Federation (Itf), has announced the termination of the partnership with Kosmos initiated in 2018 to organize the competition.
The partnership, reads a brief statement, “increased Davis Cup participation, prize money and interest in the event, and generated funds to support the global development of our sport.” But it did not provide official reasons at this time to explain the decision to regain control of Davis.
The investor group Kosmos, chaired by former Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué, had reached a $3 billion, 25-year deal with the ITF in 2018 that was intended to “bring long-term benefits for players, nations, fans, sponsors and television stations.” Now, however, it is already over.
