MotoGp, Jarvis explains Franco Morbidelli’s crisis
Yamaha team manager: “He needs to rediscover himself.”
Yamaha team principal Lin Jarvis in an interview with Crash.net returned to talk about the crisis that has gripped Franco Morbidelli, in the final year of his contract with the Japanese team: “The knee injury was the turning point, which kept him out for five races, then we brought him into the factory team for the last five races, but he was not fit. We were faced with an extraordinary situation. He accepted the role, but it was probably too early.”
In 2022 Morbidelli always remained in the back of the pack, while teammate Quartararo was fighting for the title: “He trained well throughout the winter. He missed something and could never really find confidence with the bike. Frankie didn’t have the same speed, braking aggressiveness and cornering speed, that Yamaha needs. You have to have a lot of confidence to do that, and that is something I would say is Fabio’s forte. He has a lot of confidence with the front of the bike, and Frankie has struggled to find it. We know he can be fast, he has good skills. But he needs to rediscover himself, and we need to give him better tools to help him in that process.”
