Ducati rider Pecco Bagnaia explains his goal for the Valencia race: “I want to stay in front to avoid a wild fight”

Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia commented on his MotoGp free practice in Valencia. After a complicated morning, the Ducatista was more comfortable in the afternoon: “I left thinking I could have a good feeling like last year, but it was quite different – are the words taken from Motorsport -. We know that the balance of this year’s bike is quite different and on this track, because of the wind, the conditions or the fact that I am playing for a title, I felt it more. In any case, we worked very well, because already on the last run of FP1 we were fast with a tire at the end of its life.”

Bagnaia admitted to being limited: “In the time attack I didn’t want to make mistakes like in Malaysia and I kept too much margin in two or three points. In the end, however, we are two tenths behind Marini, who is first, so we can be happy.”

A 14th place would be enough for Pecco to become champion, but the Ducati rider believes it is crucial to start and stay among the first in the race: “It’s scarier for me to be behind, than to be in front, because there is a bit wilder fight, especially in the first laps. Quartararo was good and showed that if he were to start first, as of today he would have a chance to be able to stretch out. But in the end you have to think about yourself.”
