Inter, Lautaro is enough: Hellas Verona knocked out, Nerazzurri third
Inter-Hellas Verona 1-0
Inter overcame Hellas verona 1-0 at the San Siro and closed Saturday’s matches of the 18th day of Serie A with a success that allows the Nerazzurri to hook Juventus in third place in the standings.
Deciding the challenge at the ‘Meazza’ is Lautaro Martinez’s flick, when the clock marks just 3′: action on the left side of the penalty area and the ball arriving to the world champion with the Argentina jersey, who pierces Montipò sealing the 1-0. The sprint start galvanizes Inter, which comes close to scoring again with Lautaro, stopped this time by the visiting goalkeeper in the 15th minute, and with Mkhitaryan in the final minute, but the Armenian’s conclusion goes just wide.
Also in the second half, Inter went in search of the goal that would be useful to close out the match and avoid bad surprises like in Monza: a goal that arrived, again from the foot of Lautario Martinez, in the 63rd minute, but was annulled by referee Fabbri for an earlier foul on Dawidowicz. Hellas came close to the equalizing goal in the 71′ (Onana deflects Sulemana’s conclusion into the corner), but it was still the Nerazzurri team that tried to sting in the final, although neither Asllani nor Lautaro again managed to score. Nothing changed, however, until the triple whistle: Inter won and got back on track, although first place remains 10 points away.
