Salernitana, all in one direction for new coach
Salernitana is looking for Davide Nicola’s replacement
Salernitana is preparing for the Campania derby against Napoli, scheduled to take place at the Arechi Stadium at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, however, the Granata team is still without a coach after Davide Nicola’s dismissal.
Although the possibility had also loomed that, against the partenopei, Franck Ribery could sit on the bench in an unprecedented capacity, now the club of President Iervolino would be strongly targeting a profile, despite several possibilities circulated, including those of Benitez and Di Francesco.
In fact, contacts with the Spanish coach were not positive and the D’Aversa track would have cooled in the last hours: for this reason, Salernitana would be leaning toward Leonardo Semplici, a Tuscan coach already seen in Serie A on the benches of Spal and Cagliari.
However, changes on the preference of the granata leadership are not to be excluded, with the Di Francesco option resisting in the background.
