Striker sparks market derby between Genoa and Sampdoria
Genoa and Sampdoria are looking for offensive reinforcements
Both Genoa and Sampdoria are looking for offensive reinforcements to give to Alberto Gilardino and Dejan Stankovic. The Rossoblù want to continue their climb up the Serie B standings while the Blucerchiati hope to leave the lower reaches of the Serie A standings soon.
The two Genoa clubs reportedly have the same player in their sights for the winter soccer market session: it is Hellas Verona’s French center forward Thomas Henry, who last season played under the colors of Venezia.
The class of 1994, who is also among the targets of Salernitana and Cremonese, started the 2022/23 championship as a starter with Cioffi on the bench but, after the exoneration of the former Udinese coach, Henry lost his place to Milan Djuric and is often preferred to Roberto Piccoli as well. Because of this, the striker may decide to seek more space elsewhere and the Veneto club sees the Genoa option as the only one that would not go to strengthen a direct opponent for staying in Serie A.
