MotoGp, Yamaha freezes out Fabio Quartararo
The new engine will not debut next season
Yamaha team manager Maio Meregalli in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke on the sidelines of the presentation of the Japanese team, which is expected to redeem itself against Ducati after the bitter experiences of 2022: “The priority was to improve speed. The numbers the engineers showed us are comforting. But we also focused on aerodynamics and, above all, corner entry, also to go a bit in Morbidelli’s direction.”
Fabio Quartararo is calling for a more powerful engine, but developments will only be seen from 2024: “This year’s engine is still a child of the 2021 and 2022 engine, Marmorini is focusing on the next one.” On the French driver’s criticism after the Valencia tests: “We tried too many things together or in the wrong order, and what the engine gave, something else took away. Fortunately it happened in Valencia and we could fix it, in Sepang it would have been much worse.”
