Federico Chiesa’s gem takes down Monza: Juve in quarters
Juventus – Monza 2-1 in the last of the scheduled round of 16
Taking the field for the last round of 16 of the Coppa Italia, the one that would designate Lazio’s opponent in the quarterfinals, Juventus and Monza produced a balanced and enjoyable match.
Having taken the lead after 8′ with a goal by Moise Kean, the Bianconeri team came back to show its old flaws, sitting back a bit too early on the advantage gained, thus allowing an always well-organized Monza to reach the equalizer already in the first half: it was Valoti who found the goal in the 25th minute with a header off a corner by Colpani.
In the second half, Juve tried to close out the game while avoiding overtime that would be uncomfortable, with Landucci, on the bench in place of the disqualified Allegri, bringing in all the bigs initially left out. Among them was Federico Chiesa, who scored a goal of his own in the 78th minute with a splendid curling shot from his favorite brick, a few steps forward from the left vertex of the area. In the final Monza tried, but Juve resisted and earned access to the next round.
