Marc Overmars confirms the severity of his health condition
Stricken by a heart attack last Dec. 30, former Dutch national team member and now sports executive Marc Overmars has survived the operation he underwent at Zwolle Hospital, but as reported by ‘De Telegraaf’ he has lost part of his heart function, an injury considered “irreparable.”
“I have to take things slowly, move forward step by step,” Overmars said, confirming the details reported by the Dutch newspaper. The former Ajax and Barcelona footballer still holds the post of technical director of Antwerp, but he cannot return to work having to devote himself to a recovery that is expected to be very long, nor are predictions related to the date of his return to the office possible.
