Ranieri’s men stopped at 0-0

Claudio Ranieri’s Cagliari’s winning streak is halted at two: the islanders were unable to go beyond a 0-0 draw at home to Cittadella. The hosts found themselves with a man down from the 52nd, due to the expulsion of Alessandro Salvi.

The first chance of the match was for Cittadella, who managed to engage Radunovic with Antonucci following a counterattack. After the danger escaped the Rossoblù take the match in their hands, going on more than one occasion close to the goal of the lead, found in the 44th with Falco, but cancelled for offside.

The second half opened along the same lines as the first, with the guests pushing. In the 52nd, Gorini’s men found themselves in 10 after Salvi received a double caution. Cagliari increased the pace even more: the islanders had a penalty revoked following a Var check, Ranieri tried to insert as many offensive players as possible, but without being able to break through the fortress erected by the Veneto team, which resisted even in the six minutes of added time.

A golden point for Cittadella, which remains hooked on Como and Benevento. False step for Ranieri’s men who, despite the game played for much of the time on the attack, slip to ninth position.
