Sofia Goggia explains her surprise choice
Sofia Goggia will be in the Italian quartet taking part in the opening women’s combined at the World Championships
Marta Bassino, Federica Brignone, Elena Curtoni and Sofia Goggia are the four Italian women’s athletes who will take part in the opening women’s combined at the World Championships in Courchevel/Meribel, scheduled for Monday from 11 a.m.
Sofia Goggia explained her surprise choice to take part in the very first race of the World Championships: “It’s been a long time since I took part in a combined, I’m doing it to better prepare for Wednesday’s super-giant and especially the downhill,” are her words to the Fisi website.
“I haven’t done slalom since Ushuaia and with the problem I had with my hand in December, it’s not the case to take more hits. We did three laps, very varied track and many bumps, not easy to interpret, it’s a great track.” On his physical condition: “I’m fine, but it’s been quite a troubled January.”
