Jannik Sinner ready for return to the field
Sinner will return to the field in Montpellier
Seventeen days after his defeat at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open, Jannik Sinner is set to make his return to the court. The South Tyrolean will be engaged on Wednesday in the round of 16 match at the Atp 250 tournament in Montpellier, which was won last season by Aleksandr Bublik of Kazakhstan.
In France, the 2001-year-old will be the second seed in the draw, after Denmark’s Holger Rune number 9 in the Atp rankings. Due to the players on the starting-list for this tournament (28) Sinner has taken advantage of a ‘bye’ for the first round. In the second, he will most likely face Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, beaten in five sets already in the first Slam of the year. The other possibility for the Italian holder is to face a qualifier.
Sinner is chasing his first title of 2023 after his 2022 title at the Croatia Open in Umag. The South Tyrolean is always focused on the ultimate goal of the season, which is to be able to reach the Finals in Turin.
