ATP Montpellier, Jannik Sinner moves on without playing

ATP Montpellier: Jannik Sinner is in the quarterfinals.

Debut postponed for Jannik Sinner in the Montpellier ATP 250. The South Tyrolean tennis player was supposed to make his debut in the French tournament this evening against Hungarian tennis player Marton Fucsovics, but he withdrew due to a physical problem. The Italian thus enters the quarterfinals without having played. Awaiting him is a possible derby. In fact, Sinner will take on the winner of the match between his friend and compatriot Lorenzo Sonego and Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic.

Despite having achieved excellent results in skiing since childhood, at the age of 13 Jannik decided to devote himself exclusively to tennis, moving to Bordighera, at the court of Riccardo Piatti. It was a choice that would prove successful, as Sinner is the youngest Italian tennis player ever to enter the top 100 (October 2019) and to win an Atp title in the Open era (Sofia 2020).
