Olimpia Milano, Sandro Gamba: “Napier plugged the hole.”
Former coach is clear on Napier
Former coach Sandro Gamba, as he does every Tuesday, from the columns of ‘La Repubblica’ had his say on Olimpia Milano’s situation, in particular dwelling on the latest arrival, Shabazz Napier: “We all hoped that this Napier would bring with him the ability to change pace, to lead and at the limit to scold his teammates, to give orders with words or gestures. And thus to bring order to chaos. To bring logic back into Olympia. Well, this first week gives us a lot of comfort.”
“The piece is good, the hole appears plugged, the many guards with little passing ability have finally been joined by someone who really knows that trade. And it’s not like he’s shown NBA stuff so far. But there is finally the right personality at the helm of operations,” he continued.
“It didn’t even look like a team anymore, this Olimpia of too many absences and too many troubles, which in the Euroleague seemed almost resigned to doing a sequence of friendlies. Now you can see a more compact, increasingly tough group, with that nastiness that is Milan’s trademark,” Gamba concluded.
