Filippo Ganna analyzes the race that gave the Azzurri gold

On the sidelines of yet another feat by the Italian quartet, which was able to take gold in the team pursuit at the European Track Cycling Championships being held in Grenchen, Switzerland, Filippo Ganna analyzed the race, admitting that he feared the gold would slip out of his hands at the most beautiful moment.

“The level rose,” the Verbanese rider, champion along with Consonni, Moro and Milan, told official Federciclismo channels, “We wanted to show that we were there and that the Great Britain seen at work at last year’s World Championships was within our reach. In the final we went strong, really strong, and maybe we were also a bit lucky, because at one point we made a mistake and risked disuniting.”

“The points for Olympic qualification were our primary goal, the European title is a great satisfaction. Now we just have to work for the next opportunities,” Ganna concluded.
