On Thursday morning, Sofia Goggia took to the slopes with her teammates with mourning on her arm for the tragic death in recent hours of Elena Fanchini, a loss that has deeply shaken the soul of the Italian team.
“It was terrible news, one of those news you never want to hear,” Sofia said at the end of training. “We all united in a sincere and supportive hug, we cried as a group. We will try to put all of ourselves into the race, Elena would certainly want that. Her being genuine and her authenticity made her special, we silently and with so much solidarity join her family’s pain, we are sure she will give us something more on Saturday during the downhill.”
