Milan, new signing strikes a blow: Pioli gloats
The Rossoneri coach may have found the right resource in the new defensive module
In Milan’s hard-fought victory at the San Siro against Torino, penned by Olivier Giroud, author of a great goal, the defensive solidity put on display by the Rossoneri rearguard impressed. Considering that the meneghini were coming off a period in which the opposing forwards did a bit what they wanted, having rendered Tatarusanu practically inoperative can already be considered a good step forward.
One of the stars of the night was certainly Malick Thiaw, the German defender born in 2001 who until before the match against Juric’s eleven had accumulated only 142′ minutes on the field in Serie A.
“I’m happy to have helped protect Milan’s goal, we were compact in the second half. I am happy to have started from the first minute and the trust given to me by the coach,” the Teutonic said after the match. For his part, Pioli also did not hide his satisfaction with the success of the experiment: “Thiaw did very well. In Schalke he played a lot at 3, in the national team at 4. I’m glad he did well, if he only played tonight it’s because I saw more of his teammates better before,” the coach explained.
