Mercedes, Russell confident about Mick Schumacher: “His work will be crucial.”

George Russell, after a very positive first season at the helm of Mercedes, hopes to do even better in the upcoming Formula 1 championship. On February 15, the Brackley-based team’s new livery will be officially unveiled. During an interview given to the microphones of “Auto Motor und Sport,” the British driver also wanted to dwell on the importance that will have the new third driver of the German stable, Mick Schumacher, who was hired after his failure to be reappointed at the wheel of Haas.

“If I were in Mick’s shoes, I would be working hard in the simulator trying to integrate as well as possible with the whole team. He is a very important asset for us, and we need quality drivers to drive as much as possible so we can get more and more data. The advice I would give him is to lock himself in that room and do as many laps as he can so he can form the team as much information as he can,” he explained.

“I’m looking forward to seeing his perspective and opinion, as we could certainly learn several things from him. In addition, it will be very helpful for his growth to see how this team works and how Lewis and I work together and with the engineers,” concluded the 24-year-old former Williams.
