Tennis: boom of Italians in Atp top 200 ranking
As many as 19 Italian tennis players are among the world’s top 200 athletes
Victory in the Montpellier tournament allowed Jannik Sinner to move up three places in the Atp rankings, to 14th place. Steps backward for Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Berrettini, both of whom were stationary in the past week: the Carrarese slipped to 20th position, the Roman is 23rd.
Ahead of everyone always Novak Djokovic, on the podium with Carlos Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas. The other Italians in the top 100 besides the three mentioned above are Lorenzo Sonego, 60th, Fabio Fognini, 66th, and Marco Cecchinato, 89th.
The Italian movement is in great health: between the 100th and 200th places there are as many as thirteen Italian tennis players. Close to the top 100 are Francesco Passaro (108) and Matteo Arnaldi (109).
