Mati Fernandez retires: ‘Fiorentina passion without limits’
The former Chilean midfielder wore the lily jersey for four seasons
Former Fiorentina midfielder Mati Fernandez announced his farewell to soccer in a post published on his social profiles. “The day has come to say goodbye professionally to my great passion: FOOTBALL. I have only words of gratitude, first to God for giving me the gift to play soccer, along with the passion and dreams forged on the street in a soccer field in La Calera. I also give thanks for the blessing of being able to fulfill many of the dreams I had when I started playing when I was 4 years old.”
In his long message, he also spoke about the purple experience (four years from 2012 to 2016): “Fiorentina, passion without limits.” Among the coaches thanked was Vincenzo Montella: “Vincenzo Montella, who helped me realize my dream.”
Among the many former teammates who have paid tribute to him on social media are former Fiorentina players Cuadrado, Giuseppe Rossi, Gonzalo Rodriguez, and Vincenzo Montella himself.
